The answers to these will be different for everybody, but in this blog I aim to offer tips and advice from my own experience.
First: me. I’m a twenty-something girl from Glasgow, Scotland. I’ve stayed here my whole life, except for a six month stint in Edinburgh, which I hated. My experience in Edinburgh was also my first and only experience of living away from home.
I’m a psychology graduate, and I’ve worked in various fields, including retail, the care sector and in the games industry. At the minute I’m unemployed because we’re moving in a week! But I would ideally like to train as a teacher.
I’m moving away with my boyfriend, Tee. He is also twenty-something, a bit older than me. We met ten years ago and have had a madly in love, on and off again relationship ever since! Currently we’ve been dating for two and a half years. He’s a mechanic and the one with the job already set up where we’re moving. He’s my best friend as well as my partner, we make each other laugh like nobody else can.
We are moving to the west of Melbourne, Australia, after a three day stopover in Dubai. Tee has a job as a truck mechanic already set up. I have been accepted the University of Melbourne to study my Masters in Early Childhood Education, just waiting on scholarship decisions then I can start in February.
At the minute we are 7 days and 21 hours away from flying out. So we’ve done all the big stuff, I just have to make Tee pack and we are good to do. So I will be posting from now on with updates on where we’re at, experiences I’m having and what the next big thing for us is.
If you are wondering anything about our experience, how we ended up where we are or how we managed to start the process of moving abroad, anything at all; just comment below or get in touch via Facebook, twitter, Instagram, etc. and I will either get back to you or tailor my next post to your question!
